3 Cruise Essentials I ALWAYS Pack (That No One Talks About)

I spend a lot of time on cruise ships, and with that I’ve found there are a few key items that stay in my “cruise gear” box - non-negotiables I truly can’t live without.

These are the three items I’ve never seen on anyone else’s cruise prep list, and they’re all surprisingly affordable.

Woman standing on a cruise ship deck wearing a blue and white patterned midi dress and sandals, leaning against the railing with a relaxed smile. The ship’s exterior with rows of round windows fills the background.
Cruise hair, don’t care! Care-free, because my belt bag (one of my cruise essentials) was nearby. 😏

1️⃣ The Cup Holder

Hands-free silicone cup holder designed for a Royal Caribbean cruise soda cup, designed for poolside and deck use.

Hands free. Poolside approved. Currently $5 (and I’ve never seen it this cheap). PERFECT for your Royal Caribbean soda cup!

2️⃣ Collapsible Travel Tote

Collapsible Baggallini travel tote bag in coral color with zippered compartments and a sleeve to slide over a carry-on suitcase handle.

This Baggallini tote is a cruise non-negotiable for me. The zippers actually hold up, it slides over your carry-on handle for easy airport days, and it folds flat in your suitcase until you need it.

Durable, lightweight, and available in a ton of colors. (Mine is this coral one!)

3️⃣ Waterproof Belt Bag

Woman and young girl smiling on a cruise ship, both wearing belt bags, with the girl holding a handmade bracelet featuring a small duck charm.

This is one item I never cruise without, and clearly I’m not alone!!

Turning a corner onboard, I noticed this sweet girl hiding ducks. I told her how much I loved what she was doing, and she gifted me a friendship bracelet... complete with a tiny resin duck attached. 🦆

I LOVE making cruise friends!

Back to the bags...

Let's talk specifics.

You can find belt bags everywhere (this sweet cruiser had a Lululemon one!), but for cruises, nylon is key. It wipes clean, air dries fast, and handles pool days, port days, and surprise splashes like a champ.

Mine is from Halara, and it goes everywhere with me.

BONUS TIP: If you're ordering clothes from Halara, belt bags are often included as a gift with purchase, which is exactly how I got TWO. (One serves as our first aid kit.) And there's no better price than $Free.99!

Learn from my mistake:

fleece belt bag + hot tub = immediate regret.

Go with the nylon.

CRUISE ESSENTIALS

The usual cruise prep lists are all accurate (ID holders, bag tag covers, passport holders, etc.), but THESE THREE CRUISE ESSENTIAL ITEMS are ones that have truly elevated my cruise experience and leave others asking, "WHERE did you get that?!" If someone asks you, tell them "I cruise with PIE!"

💋XOXO
