Royal Caribbean Show Reservations Worth Making EARLY

Royal Caribbean isn’t just about waterslides and beach days—it’s also home to some of the best entertainment at sea. From Broadway-caliber musicals to jaw-dropping AquaTheater stunts, the shows are part of the main event. But here’s what a lot of first-time cruisers don’t know: not every ship lets you reserve them ahead of time.

Let’s break down how it works—and how to lock in your seats before you ever set foot onboard.

Two70° on Quantum-class ships combines live music, aerial performers, and immersive tech for a can’t-miss show—make your reservation early to snag the best seat.

Which Ships Allow Show Reservations?

You can only make Royal Caribbean show reservations before your cruiseĀ on these Royal Caribbean ship classes:

  • Oasis Class (Utopia, Wonder, Harmony, Symphony, Allure, Oasis of the Seas)

  • Quantum Class (Odyssey, Spectrum, Anthem, Ovation, Quantum of the Seas)

  • Icon Class (Icon of the Seas, and BRAND NEW Star of the Seas)

If you’re sailing on one of Royal Caribbean’s Freedom or Vision class ships (like Freedom, Radiance, Voyager, or Vision), you’ll just walk in day-of—no pre-reservations needed.

When Can I Make Reservations?

šŸ“… Typically, reservations open about 30–45 days before sailing. Once you're fully checked in and your cruise is paid in full, you can log into the Royal Caribbean app or your online cruise planner to snag seats.

āš ļø Tip: Don’t panic if you don’t see options right at the 45-day mark. Some itineraries release show times later than others.

The AquaTheater on Oasis and Icon class ships delivers a jaw-dropping mix of diving, dance, and water effects - definitely a must-reserve show.

What Shows Should I Reserve?

šŸŽ Broadway-Style Musicals – Mamma Mia, Grease, Cats, Hairspray

⛲ AquaTheater Performances – Dancers, high divers, synchronized stunts (Oasis and Icon Class)

ā„ļø Ice Skating Shows – Yes, there’s an actual ice rink on board

šŸŽ¤ Comedy and Game Shows – Sometimes reservable, sometimes first-come

šŸŽ¶ Two70° & Tech Shows – Unique to Quantum Class, these immersive performances are a must

Do I Have to Pay for Shows?

Nope! All of these reservations are included with your cruise fare.Ā You're just securing a seat in advance, kind of like scoring a ticket to a concert with no extra charge.

Up close and unforgettable - AquaTheater shows blend raw athleticism, water choreography, and intense storytelling you won’t want to miss.

What Happens If I Miss a Reservation?

Royal Caribbean typically holds seats for about 10–15 minutes after showtime.Ā If you’re late, they may release your seat to standby guests. So don’t dawdle! Arrive early to claim your spot (especially if you want a great view!).

PIE Pro Tip: Plan Around Your Dining—and Don’t Skip the Hidden Gems

Your dining timeĀ and show reservationsĀ should work together. If you booked early dining, don’t pick the early show, and vice versa. Most performances are offered more than once, so give yourself a little buffer and enjoy both without rushing.

And while you’re planning? Don’t overlook the lesser-knownĀ acts. Some of my favorite moments at sea have come from live musicians in Central ParkĀ or the house band at The Mason Jar. These smaller sets bring big energy. They’re the kind of magic you can’t schedule, but definitely shouldn’t miss. These often give you a chance to get close to the performers and maybe even have a drink with them after a set and ask them about what it's like working and living on a cruise ship.

Don’t skip the small-stage magic! Live country music at The Mason Jar is one of Royal Caribbean’s most underrated entertainment experiences.
