If you’ve been watching Caribbean cruise news lately, you may have seen updates regarding Labadee, Royal Caribbean’s private destination in Haiti.

First, take a breath.

Cruise lines constantly monitor global events and adjust itineraries based on guest safety. When changes happen, they are proactive decisions made out of caution - not chaos.

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

Royal Caribbean has temporarily suspended visits to Labadee out of an abundance of caution. When that happens, itineraries are adjusted to alternative ports or sea days. Guests are notified directly, and compensation or onboard credit is sometimes offered depending on the change.

Now here’s the part people don’t always think about:

When you book with me as your travel advisor, I pay attention to these changes for you.

My role is to understand what’s actually shifting and help you think through what it means for your specific sailing. Sometimes it’s simply a port swap. Sometimes there are options worth considering, whether that’s adjusting expectations or exploring alternatives.

Most of the time, it’s far less dramatic than it sounds.

Travel is dynamic.

That’s part of seeing the world.

If you’re booked on a sailing that includes Labadee and you’re unsure what the updates mean, I’m happy to walk through it with you.

Cruising isn’t stopping. The Caribbean isn’t “closed.”

Plans adjust, and experienced travelers adjust with them.

That’s part of smart travel.
