Why Millennials Are Traveling More (and What That Really Means)

We’re not running from responsibility. We’re running toward life.

A mother walks hand-in-hand with her two young sons between two Royal Caribbean cruise ships, boarding Utopia of the Seas in July 2025. The word "priceless" appears on the image, which symbolizes the value of family and making memories.

I’m traveling a LOT these days.

But it isn’t just me... Millennials, as an age group, are traveling more.

It’s a trend worth paying attention to, and here’s what I’ve noticed: Millennials aren’t reckless. We’re observant. We watched generations before us put off joy in favor of doing things the “right” way.

A grandmother and two young boys relax at a rented beach bed at Breezy Bay on Perfect Day at CocoCay. The grandmother stands smiling beside the shaded cabana while the boys sit on the daybed, surrounded by turquoise lounge chairs, palm trees, and a bright blue sky.
Three Generations. One Perfect Day. My boys and my mom at our Breezy Bay beach bed on Perfect Day at CocoCay - a name that lives up to the experience! A perfect day was had by all.

There are old ways of living, and there are new ones, and right now, the Millennial way is taking over.

We don’t stay in the same job for decades, trading loyalty for pennies while corporations call it even. We saw parents and grandparents skip trips, dinners out, and the little moments that come from being truly present.

Our mantra? Don’t postpone joy for retirement.

Because too often, by the time retirement came, their bodies were tired. Their health had changed, and the money they counted on didn’t stretch as far as they thought it would.

We took notes.

We learned.

And we decided we’re not waiting to live.

A towel animal shaped like an elephant sits on a cruise ship stateroom bed, complete with floppy ears and googly eyes. Nearby are cruise materials and a Perfect Day at CocoCay information sheet.
A towel elephant waiting in our stateroom - a tiny reminder that joy really does live in the small moments and the little things.

So we travel now.

We work from our phones.

We find deals.

We take our kids out of school and bring them along for the ride - to see the world through their own eyes.

Time is the one resource we don’t get back.

Millennials aren’t running from responsibility.

We’re running toward an abundant life.

A mother wearing sunglasses smiles as her young son gives her a kiss on the cheek while relaxing together on a beach bed in the sun during a cruise stop at Perfect Day at CocoCay.
Getting kisses on the beach bed from my youngest - the kind of moment that stops you right in your tracks. Ugh, my heart.

If this resonated with you - if you’re ready to stop waiting and start living - I’d love to help you plan the trip that brings your “someday” to life... NOW.

Because life is sweeter on the high seas...
